FESTIVAL OF FILM AND URBANISM

MAY 9 - MAY 13 / 2018, SLAVUTYCH

Urban School for Kids

As part of its Urban Program, the International Festival of Film and Urbanism “86” will hold Kid’s Urbanism Workshop and Kid’s Urbanism Classes. The Kid’s Urban Program is led by the Children Architecture School DASH! (Kharkiv).

WORKSHOP

During the workshop, we turn the idea of the city upside down. If we see Slavutych in the same way as former Prypiat, why don’t we go one step further? The studio will develop the fantastic idea of transferring the city to a new location. What will you put in your backpack if you are to include a whole city? This experimental situation will help us highlight values, work with the urban identity and rethink the past. Backpacks with items, concepts, souvenirs, favorite cafes, songs and all that we consider necessary will be presented to the public at the end of the research week.

The workshop will cover 5 days of the festival.

CLASSES

The Kid’s Urbanism Classes is a series of 5 lessons for the young visitors of the festival and their parents. Today’s children will be the ones shaping our cities tomorrow. Our goal is to help them understand the significance and impact of the architectural environment. We would like to teach them to comprehend space critically, express their ideas and make informed decisions. The classes are aimed at developing spontaneous ideas and raising the children’s awareness of internal concepts of cities, architecture and of the human being. The learning process is organized to push the student towards posing questions, finding and processing the data and creating their own ideas of things through experiments and research.

Programme

The classes will cover 5 days of the festival. The Classes’ format combines lectures, discussions and training exercises.
