“The journey is my home,” the famous poet Matsuo Basho said. He traveled his native Japan trying to compress the meaning of the natural world into the simplicity of his poetry. Like Basho, the character in this film is an observer of the events happening during his journey. He is fascinated by the summer rain, the beauty of birches swaying in the wind and the calm evening voice of the river.
