The Russian Woodpecker is a detective story about the causes of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. A young and eccentric Ukrainian artist Fedor Alexandrovich pursues his own investigation and comes up with a new version of what happened back in 1986. The film’s title refers to the secret radio signal that was transmitted from the USSR territory during the Cold War.
